“Healthy children have healthy, thriving parents.”

Dr. Sarah Dow-Fleisner, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health and Social Development and Director of the Centre, was interviewed in March 2025 and contributed to a Vancouver Sun article sharing the importance of social connections for children to thrive.

“Mob mentality is not unique to teenagers.” 

Dr. Sarah Dow-Fleisner, Associate Professor and Director of the Centre noted in the October 2024 article on Mob mentality in the Kelowna news that “It’s important for us to consider what’s going on for adolescents,” “They’re at a stage where they can think abstractly, they can think in cause and effect, but that capacity is hindered when in a high-emotion experience.” Dr. Dow-Fleisner’s research focuses on what factors shape the health and wellbeing of children and young people.
