The Centre for the Study of Services to Children and Families (CSSCF) was originally established in 2011 by Dr. Susan J. Wells, UBC-O professor emerita, with a Canadian Foundation for Innovation infrastructure grant. The Centre continues to advance research related to services for children and families and contribute to evidence-based practices and policies in British Columbia and beyond.

CSSCF Mission:

To identify and support the development of evidence-informed policies, programs, and services aimed at improving the lives of children, youth, and families from diverse social contexts.

Primary Aims: 

  • Conducting Research: Conduct research that informs the development of evidence-based practice and policies impacting children, youth, and families.
  • Training: Train the next generation of researchers through graduate and undergraduate research assistantships.
  • Knowledge Mobilization: Translate and mobilize research-based knowledge about children, youth, and families to researchers, educators, practitioners, and the general public.
  • Partnerships: Build university-community partnerships and collaborations to enhance research, practice, and policies impacting children, youth, and families.
